Netherlands
Location: Amsterdam and Haarlem, Netherlands
During the Fall of 2019, Katie and I spent two weeks exploring the country sides of Ireland and the cities of the Netherlands. The first night we arrived in Amsterdam; it took only a matter of minutes to fall in love with the city. Amsterdam captures the perfect balance between the thrill of a large city while maintaining the ease of a small town. The people are fast paced, but polite. The restaurants are trendy but inviting. And my favorite part (the one my friends are tired of hearing about), is the ease of getting from one side of the city to the other. You could hop on the inner-city tram and zip through neighborhoods or take on the streets by bicycle.
During one of the days of our trip , we took advantage of their train system and explored the quitter city of Haarlem. We walked the cobblestone streets with umbrella’s in hand which made the scene more picturesque. We ate, we drank, we ventured into the small shops filled with friendly people. Eventually we found a bench to sit on on looking a windmill while boats entered and exited the city. I am so grateful for the time we spent there and hope to be lucky enough to make it back again soon.
